Hope you're all enjoying your holidays!

Here is the list of projects that you will have to work on in pairs from January to March.

You have to choose one project and let me know about your choice.

Be careful, once a project has been taken, it is no longer available, so be quick!!!

    1. Design/write a graphic novel depicting the story of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. A graphic novel is a type of comic book usually with a lengthy and complex story line.

    2. Write a rap to tell the story of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. Your rap should communicate great detail about the fable. Be prepared to perform your original rap and have prepared written lyrics.

    3. A critical moment is a point in the story that is pivotal. It is when you suddenly realize an essential point that the author is trying to make. Chose a critical moment from the story and rewrite it from two characters’ perspectives of that moment. You may not use Bruno as one of your characters.

    4. Design costumes for Father, Mother, Bruno, Gretel, Maria, Lars, Grandmother, and Fury in period dress. Costume designs must be complete in detail, including colourization and labelling. Some type of display must be included.

    5. Compare ideals and issues of human rights, religious persecution, or world politics of the 1940’s with those of today. Choose a format to communicate your findings. Findings can be in the form of a chart, poster, electronic display (include hard copy).

    6. Compose a song expressing the views of one or more characters. Musical score should be included.
Students can choose to record their song or perform it.

    7. Write and perform a monologue to deliver as one of the characters. Your monologue should convey a moral lesson that your character has learned.

    8. Pretend you are a character in the book. Write and perform a monologue exploring how you as th e character change throughout the play. Your monologue should focus on the theme of friendship or injustice.

    9. Pick another book, movie, poem, etc. that centers on the theme of friendship and /or injustice and compare the two using a visual representation such as a chart, Venn diagram, table.

    10. Select a theme song for each of three characters that can be connected to the themes of friendship and injustice. Be prepared to defend how your choices relate to these themes. Bring in music, lyrics and a written explanation of your choices. Written explanation can be in the form of a paper or visual display.

    11. Create a table of contents and develop your own chapter names for each of the twenty chapters. Each newly created chapter name should capture the essence of chapter.

    12. Design a detailed billboard like poster advertising the book. Include three or more characters, quotations, scenes or moments that would entice others to read this book.

    13. Compose a front page of a newspaper that depicts four events in the story using Microsoft publisher or other publishing software. Include headlines, graphics and any other content that one might find on the front page of a newspaper.

    14. Describe how Bruno or Gretel would react to life in 2010. Write seven journal entries as your character travels through a week of experiences in 2010. Each journal entry should be one page in length, be bound into a booklet and have an attractive cover.

    15. Using audio or video technology, interview three or more “characters” from the book. Provide a transcript of the interview as well as the actual taped interviews.

    16. Explain what lesson is learned in The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and write a modern-day fable that illustrates this same lesson.

    17. Create a map of Bruno’s world. Include a detailed legend with at least 20 items included. Legend items should help us understand Bruno’s view of reality. Provide a written explanation to support your decide.

    18. Create a “Biography”-like television program that profiles the career of Bruno’s father.

Check below to see if the project you wish to work on is still available or not :

Project 17 : Alice and Lucie
Project 18 : Jaweed

Today we worked on the first chapter of the book, entitled "Survivors".

We first checked on the vocabulary sheet and then, we answered the questions to see if you had well understood this first chapter.

You can listen to this first chapter online
(that will help for the pronunciation of some of the words!)

Enjoy and see you tomorrow!
